Guided Tours

The Algoma District is home to species a great variety of species. Over 330 species have been recorded here all-time, with 240-260 being recorded each year. During spring migration, you can easily record over 100 species in a single day. 

In the winter months, winter finches such as Pine Grosbeak, Evening Grosbeak, and Common Redpoll can be abundant. Sharp-tailed Grouse can be found in snow-covered agricultural fields. In the spring and summer, Brewer's Blackbird can be found along the roadways along those same fields. North of Sault Ste. Marie, there is boreal forest like habitat, making species like Boreal Chickadee, Black-backed Woodpecker, Canada Jay, and Spruce Grouse a possibility.   

Whitefish Point Bird Observatory in Michigan, a major migrant trap, is just over an hour drive from Sault Ste. Marie. Also on the Michigan side is the Rudyard Flats, which is one of the best places in North America to find Snowy Owls in the winter.

Private Tours:

I am willing to provide private birding tours, depending on my availability. Tours can be tailored to most group sizes and we can target any birds that you desire.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a very busy work schedule, at this time, please contact me directly to discuss my availability. 

For dates beyond the ones listed, please contact me to inquire about my availability. Early morning and evening tours may be available on dates not listed here if there is enough daylight to fit them in (I typically work elsewhere 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday).

Rates:

Full Day (~8 hours) - $70/person
Half Day (~4 hours) - $40/person

The above rates are based on a minimum of two clients per tour and are subject to change without notice. Rates for tours of alternative lengths than those listed above or for destinations that require a significant distance of travel will be determined when you schedule.
